The Astin Mansion Event Center is a multi-service wedding and special event venue located in historic downtown Bryan. We offer floral, décor rental, catering, and coordination services in order to simplify the planning process for your special event. We host various events including corporate luncheons and board meetings, private dinner parties, social and student functions and designer weddings and receptions.
Our mission is to provide impeccable service, quality products, cutting-edge design, and a relaxed environment. We also strive to give back to our community by assisting as many local non-profit organizations as often as we can.
Special Events Intern
Assist the coordinator in the set-up, execution, and break-down of events
Maintain a positive attitude when interacting with clients, guests, and other staff members
Provide services upon request of the client
Be punctual, professional, and appropriately dressed for all events
Know wait staff etiquette
Know lingo and technical terms for all items used in/during events
Keep coordinator informed of the progress of the event and any concerning issues
Use common sense to make quick decisions in case of emergencies or other problems that may occur
Requirements & Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Working knowledge of events, and coordination.
Comfortable with e-mail, phone and in-person communication.
Comfortable creating documents with minimal instruction.
Organized with excellent time management, prioritization and communication skills.
Available to work evenings and weekends based on program needs.
Highly self-motivated, solution-oriented, collaborative, proactive and decisive.
Frequently required to lift and transport boxes or other items weighing up to 30 lbs.
Occasionally required to stand and/or remain in a stationary position for 6-8 hours at a time.
Occasionally required to perform work in outdoor weather conditions.
Comfortable creating professional branded content on social media platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Familiar with content planning platforms such as Planoly or Later.
I have gained significant knowledge of content marketing through social media, and the importance of cooperative long-term objectives. I have also been able to acquire new skills such as:
Professional service communication through email.
Extended focus in an office environment.
How to design quality content.
I was given three special projects which I have successfully accomplished which include:
Updating the entire organization website.
Create and maintain the social media accounts for our in-house floral design service.
Develop and launch the organization's permanent Instagram highlights.
Restructure and update the historical information pamphlet for the Astin Mansion.
Wages will start out at $8.50 an hour for the first 30 working days then increase to $10 an
Gain experience in both day-of event coordination, as well as behind the scenes daily office work involved with event creation.
Networking Opportunities as the Astin Mansion works closely with the Brazos Valley Bridal Association (BABV) and all of it's wonderful members.
