Horticulture Career Fair

The horticulture career fair is presented by the horticulture department within Texas A&M. This department partners with local and surrounding companies allow awaiting graduates the opportunity to network with professionals within the horticulture industry. The event not only, allows them to network but provides practice for the students to interact in a professional manner, and optimally match them with a future employer.

I learned the importance of simplicity when assigning volunteer tasks. The coordinator was very organized with a spreadsheet of names and duties. This helped to mitigate the moment, as a volunteer when you are not sure what you are supposed to be doing. She also sent out text reminders the day of to avoid absenteeism, which I noted.

Job Duties:

• Set-up and properly prepared the popcorn machine.

• Maintained good food handler's conduct when serving the popcorn.

• Greeted and directed attendees.
